Mississippi Agrees To Health Care Trust Fund
The Mississippi legislature yesterday, March 25, 1999, agreed to create a trust fund with money from the state's multi-billion dollar tobacco settlement.

The state will only spend interest from the fund, estimated at $50 million a year.

The fund will pay for children's health insurance, trauma care and a variety of other causes. The agreement must be approved by the legislature before being sent to Gov. Kirk Fordice.
