Become an
Advertising Researcher
To participate in this research project, you will need the following:
- A notebook or
piece of paper, and
- A pen or pencil.
You will see a
total of nine (9) advertisements. For this test, we want you to view each
ad a total of three (3) times. Do this in the following manner:
Phase 1
Look at the screen for only two (2) seconds.
You don't need a watch, but you can count as follows, one one-thousand,
two one-thousand.
[NOTE: Each image may take between
10 and 15 seconds to load. Do not watch the image as it loads. Watch the
file counter at the bottom left corner of your Web browser screen. When
the image has loaded 100%, look to the screen.]
Look away from
the screen and write down what you saw (or believe you saw). You
may not remember anything in particular or you may be unsure what you saw. This
happens to many people. Just write down whatever you can.
Phase 2
After you write what you remember seeing, look to the screen again. This
time look at the ad for four (4) seconds. Look away and write to your paper
what you remembered seeing.
Phase 3
Now, look at the ad one last time. You can view the image as long
as you like during this round.
After reviewing at the spot this last time, please answer the following two questions.
Write your comments on your paper.
First, what is the primary message the sponsors of the ad are trying to
make?
Second, using the scale
shown below, evaluate how the image (or the message) makes you feel?
[NOTE:If you like, you can print out a form to use for this review. Just
click here and then print the page. The
form allows you to answer three ads, so you'll need to print three pages.]
Ready to start? Let's view an example of the advertisement format. Click Go when you
are ready to continue.
