Several States To Receive Bonus For Negotiating Settlement
States that played leading roles in negotiating the multi-state tobacco
settlement will receive bonus payments from an $8.6 billion "strategic
contribution fund."
Washington state will receive a $100 million bonus
because Attorney General Christine Gregoire led the negotiating team for the
states. The $100 million bonus is on top of a $394.9 million award to
Washington state in March.
In addition, Massachusetts will receive an
additional $55.6 million on top of $358.6 million already awarded to the
state.
